OUR ENVIRONMENTAL ETHICS POLICY

With the growing concern for our environment comes an influx of questions regarding the source and gathering practices for the shells we supply you with. Along with these questions comes a wealth of misinformation damaging our reputation of being environmentally sensitive as an importer. This is the reason that we welcome inquiries, so that we might educate and assure you about the process involved in bringing these beautiful gifts of nature to you. Please keep in mind that we are speaking solely for our business practices and ethics and cannot attest to any other company's policy.

In keeping a conscientious attitude regarding the environment, we would like to assure our customers that the majority of our shells are by-products of the seafood industry. They are gathered for their meat and not solely for their shells. We do not carry specimen shells or shells that are endangered or threatened. This is the reason that certain shells become unavailable from time to time….to prevent over gathering. Also, none of our shells are collected by a means called "dynamiting".

Every shipment is strictly governed and inspected by the US Department of Fish and Wildlife Service prior to its release. We pride ourselves on the fact that we are well respected as shell importers by all the Fish and Wildlife agents we have worked with over the past 42 years.

Please be assured that we would not jeopardize our family business of 42 years to deal with endangered or threatened species of shells. It is to our benefit to see that the shells are not over gathered, therefore replenishing the basis and source of our business…..shells and nature's environment.

Also, we have recently made the choice to discontinue carrying all coral. Even though gathering is allowed and legal from various locations around the world, we believe that the harvest of corals, no matter how well regulated, does negatively impact the environment.
